Perception
When was the last time you attempted to change your perception? We often get so busy or focused on certain things that we often forget that our perceptions may be inaccurate or limiting us. We can become so focused on accomplishing a task that we may not be aware of more efficient and effective alternatives to accomplish the same task, or maybe we talk about wanting peace but constantly focus on negative things happening around us that we have no control over. I think sense of control is a good example for examining perception. If we are honest with ourselves, there really is very little in our lives that we have true control over. Sure, we have some degree of control over things like what we eat, when we sleep, where we go, how we dress, etc., but there are always external factors that may limit our control such as accessibility, dogs barking, traffic, weather, etc. Maybe we become overwhelmed when we realize the only things we really have control over is our outlook and attitude, but what if we change our perception? What if we viewed limited control as freeing? Maybe we can think: I don’t have to have all the answers, I don’t have to make everyone happy, or I don’t have to keep the word turning. So maybe that mountain is an unwanted obstacle, but what positive opportunities might it present?
